CFDFL Recognized for Workplace Diversity

For the second time in three years, The Center for Drug-Free Living has received the Beacon Award for Workplace Diversity. The 5th Annual Beacon Awards were presented on September 1st, 2010, at Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts.  The Center For Drug-Free Living received the award for Nonprofit Organizations for creating an atmosphere of inclusion in which all people throughout the community are respected and appreciated.

The Beacon Awards recognize organizations and individuals for celebrating the diversity of Greater Orlando’s workforce by promoting inclusion in areas of race, ethnicity, gender, age, physical and mental ability, religion, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status and family status.  Companies, organizations and individuals chosen for the awards are held up in the community as beacons of light, leading the way for others.

Founded in 2006, the Beacon Awards seek to spotlight community leaders whose beacons guide the way in diversity and inclusion. Founders included the Orlando Chapter of National Association of Women Business Owners, Walt Disney World Resort, the YaYa Network, and Orlando Business Journal’s Diversity Works initiative
