Program Description:
Behavioral Health Consultants assist the Department of Children and Families, including Child Protective Investigators (CPI) and the Diversion Team, with the identification of behavioral needs of families involved with the Child Welfare System. They consult and collaborate with members of these teams to identify substance use disorders and co-occurring disorders, improve engagement with families, and improve access to treatment. This includes supporting investigative and Diversion staff in understand the effects of behavioral health concerns on parents and caregivers; assisting staff with identification of substance use disorder and treatment engagement; providing field and office consultation; assessing danger threat, functioning, protective capacities, and safety management abilities; working to develop contacts, facilitate referrals, track entry and services; supporting investigators in responding to and mitigating behavioral health crises; and participating in legal, multi-disciplinary, or other meetings to assist the investigative staff and families.
Services are provided at the DCF Offices in the counties listed.
Program Hours: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
Eligibility Criteria: Families who are in the process of being assessed or served by the Department of Children and Families
