Program Description:
Helping Others Make the Effort (HOME) is working to break the cycle of homelessness by providing bridge housing and supportive services to homeless single women with children. HOME offers several program options, dependent on the individual family's need and housing urgency. Services include outreach, intake, referrals and case management.

When a family first contacts HOME for service, a five to ten minute screening is used to determine if the family qualifies for HOME services or needs a referral to another agency. IF a family can be helped by HOME, an appointment will be set for them to come to the office for a more in-depth assessment of needs. HOME provides assistance with making applications for food stamps and other available benefits, case management and life skills education.

Individuals participating in the Bridge Housing portion of the program will pay a small monthly fee and also must put a portion of their income into savings. The program does not operate as an emergency shelter, and cannot do same-day admissions. Eligible clients must be single mothers with custody of all their minor children, must be employed or employable, and must be strongly motivated to become self-sufficient. Families staying on the campus must also participate in program activities and progress towards their case plan goals.
