At Dave's House, residents are offered the opportunity to permanently live in a safe environment with the support of Aspire's behavioral healthcare resources. Residents in the Dave's House program are typically high-functioning individuals that are able to live in the house with minimal supervision.
Residents at Dave's House live independently, including cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping and working, but they also receive a little additional support.
Dave's House is one of Aspire's supportive housing programs. With the generous support of board member Lin Wilensky and her husband Ron, Aspire was able to model this program after another successful and similar program in Virginia.
Named for Lin Wilensky's brother, Dave, the program sites are located in Central Florida. Dave spent the last 15 years of his life in a supportive housing program, and during those 15 years, he never had to be hospitalized for any mental health-related issues.
In the years since Aspire opened the first Dave's House, the program has grown from a single residence to six houses, all of which provide the people living there with comfort, security, and community.
